Sugar-free & low-carb chocolate
- Lily’s Dark Chocolate Chips are the best although not easy to get your hands on in Oz! I buy them from vitacost.com and haven’t had any trouble with them melting in transit but if you live in the hotter parts of Australia, I suggest stocking up in winter!! They do sometimes go out of stock – another reason to buy in bulk when you can.Note that the nutrition info says 9g carbs, but you need to subtract the fiber (4g) and erythritol (3g) to get 2g net carbs per serve.
- Lindt 90%, 95% and 85% cocoa blocks – I buy these in large quantities when they go on sale at Woolies but they can be found at most supermarkets. They also now come in 95% cocoa which has the least carbs. Start with 85% then as your tastebuds adjust, move to the 90%.
- Noshu Sugar-Free Choc Baking Chips – buy these at Woolworths. This is what I use if I can’t get Lily’s. Noshu contains maltitol which is a sugar alcohol that can affect blood sugar levels and also maltodextrin which is a highly processed food additive.
- Cocoa nibs can often be substituted for sugar-free chocolate chips
Best Low-carb sweeteners
Products using erythritol, monk fruit and stevia are best as they have a minimal impact on insulin levels and considered zero carb. Avoid anything containing maltitol, sorbitol, sucralose, dextrose as these will impact blood sugar and most likely kick you out of ketosis.
- Natvia is a combination of erythritol and stevia and comes in granular (green container) and powdered (pink) for baking. Find it at Coles, IGA and Woolworths.
- Raw Earth – a stevia/monk fruit blend available at Woolworths.
- Lakanto – Classic Monkfruit 1:1 Sugar Substitute is a monk fruit/erythritol mix. Available online.
- Sweetleaf Liquid Stevia – I use the liquid Sweet Drops which can be bought here.
- Swerve is a great brand for granular erythritol and powdered (confectioners) erythritol. Get it at iherb.com.au or vitacost.com

KETO BROWN SUGAR REPLACEMENT
- Pick up Sukrin Syrup Gold, a sugar-free brown sugar replacement that uses erythritol, stevia and malt extract. It substitutes for brown sugar at a 1:1 ratio.
- Try Lakanto’s Golden Monkfruit 1:1 Sugar Substitute
KETO HONEY/ MAPLE SYRUP REPLACEMENT
- Sukrin Gold also make a great Liquid Sweetener called Sukrin Syrup Gold that has the texture of honey or maple syrup. It is sweetened with the keto-friendly sweetener – stevia. It can be used on keto pancakes or over berries, in coffee etc.
While some of these more specialized products are not cheap, you only use a small amount at a time so they do last quite a while. I still haven’t used up the bottle of liquid stevia I bought a year ago!
MCT Oil & Powder
MCT Oil (Medium Chain Tryglycerides) is derived from coconut oil and commonly used in bulletproof coffee or added to smoothies, cooking and as a salad dressing. It aids fat burning, helps to increase fats in the diet and provides mental clarity. Learn more about what is it and why it’s popular on the keto diet.
- Bulletproof Brain Octane is C8 MCT oil, the gold standard in MCT oils, but also quite expensive. My next choice is Bulletproof XCT. Buy Brain Octane and XCT oil here. I would only use 1 tablespoon per day so the bottle lasts 1 or 2 months.
- Perfect Keto is an amazing, clean brand which is Dr developed and I use their MCT Oil Powder daily in my bulletproof coffee. They also have many other fantastic products like collagen protein and exogenous ketones so have a browse on their site. Perfect Keto DOES ship to Australia, though shipping is not cheap. They have frequent promotional sales so watch out for those to help offset the cost of shipping and buy in bulk. Note prices are in US dollars.Use our code INSTAKETO to get 15% off your first order with Perfect Keto.
- Coco Earth Liquid Coconut Premium Oil – from Woolworths and Coles
- Raw C MCT Premium Liquid Coconut Oil – from Woolworths and Coles
Collagen Protein
Great for skin, hair, nails, connective tissue and healing – I have a few brands that I use regularly and recommend highly. Collagen is insanely good for you and gives your bulletproof coffee that nice frothy texture.
- Nutraviva – Grass Fed & Finished Collagen Hydrolysate. Made by an Australian Company.
- Great Lakes Gelatin Collagen Hydrolysate can be bought at Optimoz or Iherb.com.au** Use my exclusive discount code RGL119 at checkout to get 5% off at iherb.com.au
- Perfect Keto Collagen. They also do a good vanilla collagen protein.

Protein Powder
- Isopure Protein Powder in chocolate is my go-to low-carb protein powder from iherb.com.au
Don’t buy the 3lb (1.3kg) tub like I did unless you use protein powder daily!!
Check out or easy Chocolate Chia Pudding recipe which uses Isopure protein powder.
Shirataki/Konjac Noodles
Konjac or shirataki noodles are a great low-carb noodle and pasta substitute. Konjac is actually a vegetable more commonly used in Asian countries.
- Slendier noodles come in a few varieties such as fettucini, spaghetti, noodles and rice. Buy them at Woolworths or directly from their website.
- Miracle Noodles – buy the original Miracle Noodles online from Vitacost and sometimes iherb.com.au

Baking Mixes
For pre-made baking mixes, look no further than Aussie company PBCo (Protein Bread Company). They have mixes for bread, pancakes, pizza bases, sweet and savory muffins. Check them out here.
Low carb crackers
- Flackers – get these crunchy keto friendly crackers from Vitacost. I can guarantee that they will save you on more than one occasion!!
Sourcing Hard to Find Keto Products Online in Australia
I always check out iherb.com.au and vitacost.com as they stock a huge number of brands and products from the U.S. They also have a massive range of supplements with hard to find brands so I’d recommend browsing these 2 websites. They also run various promotions and loyalty schemes which often cover shipping costs.
Some other low-carb products I buy from Vitacost:
- Pur Gum Sugar Free Mints
- Primal Kitchen Avocado Mayo
- Simply Organic Pumpkin Spice – you know you want it!
- Moon Cheese snacks
Note that Vitacost prices are in U.S. dollars and shipping is not too bad if you choose their flat rates (not expedited delivery)
Some ketogenic products that I buy from iherb.com.au
- Frontier Organic Natural flavors & spices including garlic powder
- Isopure Low-Carb Protein Powder
- Bob’s Red Mill Almond Flour and other products – cheap!
- Nutiva Organic MCT Oil
- Nutiva Organic Ground Chia Seeds
Check out all my product picks from iherb.com.au here.
Tip – Set your country to Australia and currency to Australian Dollars.

ALDI
Check out your local Australian Aldi for some amazing keto products at affordable prices:
- Fresh cauliflower rice
- Fresh zucchini noodles
- Slaw mixes with leafy greens, cabbage and some carrot (small amounts of carrot are ok)
- Natural peanut butter and almond butter
- Low-carb sliced bread: I personally don’t buy this as it contains gluten
- Forresters Paleo Mix – in the nut section. Can be used as a cereal replacement or sprinkled over salads etc
- Flaked coconut and desiccated coconut
- Almond meal
- Nuts – macadamias, almonds, walnuts
Miscellaneous Keto Products:
Grass-Fed Beef – the Grasslands Brand from Woolies or Cape Grim
Butter – I like to buy Kerrygold Unsalted Butter because it’s grass-fed but I notice that it’s becoming harder to find. Woolworths used to carry it but I haven’t seen in there for a while. Some IGA supermarkets have it so keep you eyes peeled.
Alternatively, I like Mainland Pure Butter, Unsalted from major supermarkets.
Cereal – the Forresters Paleo Mix from Aldi is fantastic. Find it in the nut section. It’s a blend of seeds, almonds and dried shredded coconut.
Ice-cream – Denada at Coles and Harris Farm in Sydney. Woolies has Halo Top and Fro Pro which are low in sugar, and reasonably low-carb, but not high fat.
Supplements
Look for a reputable source – I usually buy Blackmores and Swisse.
- Magnesium
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin K2 (take with vitamin D)
- Vitamin B Complex
- Potassium Chloride
- Omega 3
- Probiotic
