Cooking Tips & Tricks for Best Lettuce Wrapped Keto Pork Burger
- Ground pork should be cooked to a temperature of 160F (71c) for doneness. A meat thermometer can be used.
- Leftovers? Keep leftover pork patties in the fridge in an airtight container or foil-wrapped for 3 days.
- Freezer friendly? Uncooked (or cooked) burger patties can be frozen for up to 3 months. Be sure to separate patties with parchment paper to avoid them all freezing together in a giant lump. Or flash freeze – this is where you freeze the burgers in a single layer (uncovered) on a tray in the freezer then once frozen transfer to zip lock bag or container.
- Cook on the stovetop? Pan fry burgers over high heat in a little olive oil for 5-7 minutes per side or until cooked through
- Serving your carb eating family? Just serve burgers with a bread bun instead of lettuce and some ketchup or tomato sauce instead of the keto burger sauce.
- Too much heat? If you’re worried about the jalapeno pepper, substitute a regular green pepper (or skip entirely)
How to make the Best Bunless Keto Pork Burger
Grab your ingredients for the keto pork burger. You’ll need ground pork (pork mince), shallots or onion, garlic and a jalapeno pepper.
Feel free to use a green pepper or capsicum if you prefer less oomph!
Mix together in a large bowl, the pork, onion, garlic and jalapeno.
Make 4 equal sized hamburger patties with the mixture and place on a grill or barbecue pre-heated to 350F (180c).
Cook for 5-7 minutes per side or until cooked through.
See cooking tips above for how to cook on the stovetop.
If adding cheese, top the nearly cooked burger with the cheese and let it melt for a few seconds before removing from the grill.
While the burgers are cooking, mix together the mayo and mustard until smooth.
Wrap 2 large lettuce leaves around the burger, topped with the cheese, tomato and keto burger sauce.
A toothpick can be used to secure the lettuce but should be removed before eating 🙂
